My name is Jens Martin Skibsted & this is my uncommercial blog (for commercial site check www.skibstedid.com). Most of the content is aggregated without much intervention of mine. I’ve thought of it as my extended larynx expressing a kaleidoscopic, yet unifying peek into my ideas & trivia.
The flavorings are my multiple careers & interests. I mainly do value innovation strategy, creative direction & design, but love to make digressions into any area that involves a mix of aesthetics, ethics & innovation.
As a Creative Director I’ve been working with some of the world’s leading designers such as Yves Béhar, Marc Newson, Ross Lovegrove & Karim Rashid & helped position a number of brands.
I have (co-)initiated a host companies, among them the urban mobility company Biomega (www.biomega.dk), I developed the philosophy behind Actics (www.actics.com), an ethical consultancy & I have authored books - including poetry.
As a designer I have created a series of award winning bikes for Biomega (the Wallpaper Best Bike category, the ID Design Distinction for consumer products etc.) & designed for Puma alongside the likes of Philippe Starck & Alexander McQueen, been featured on the I.D. 40 list & in Taschen’s Design Now, & had products acquired for the permanent SFMoMA & the MoMA collection.
I‘ve done advisory/jury work for Design 21, Schloss Solitude, INDEX, the Danish Ministry of Economic & Business Affairs, the Danish Design Center & a host of media about design related matters.
I was born June 28 1970 in Sønderborg, Denmark, slightly before my father died in a car accident. I grew up mainly in Francophone countries. I graduated from the Paris film school, ESEC, in 1994, Philosophy from Copenhagen University in 1998, & Project Management from University of California, Berkeley, in 2000.
